Annual Family Pics

Well, another Christmas and New Years has passed. We had wonderful holidays and enjoyed spending time with Spud, Sam and Judah. Who, by the way, is 9 months old and almost walking! He is such a handsome little guy.

As of today, I have 9 weeks left (if we're talking full term here) and I'm really thinking I won't make it full term. I just have a feeling. Besides normal third trimester woes (can't get comfortable, not sleeping too well, and back aches), me and him are thankfully healthy and doing fine. We had the 4D ultrasound performed last Thursday and got a few good shots of his face. I think he looks a good bit like Ella. We are 90% done with the nursery and it's coming along really well. I'll try to post a pic of it later. Here's what the bedding looks like:

Paige took our family photos this year at Big Spring Park in November. She did such a fantastic job with Ella's last year that we had to use her again. I was about 5-6 months pregnant in these, but you really can't tell. I wasn't showing very much then (not like now for sure!)

Wondering where I've been?

Well....it's easy to go MIA when you get your Gmail confused with your old Blogger login info. LOL I feel so dumb. So, now I have lots to type and bore you with...get your eyes ready! I think a list will be the easiest way...

1) Ella. She will be 5 next month. What happened? She is in preschool at Mayfair, loves her teacher and going to school every day. She is so smart (and yes, I am biased). She loves maps and the solar system the best. She is funny and you never know what she'll say. She's tall...she's currently up to my belly button. Her hair is still blonde and curly and she weighs about 40 pounds. She's still a picky eater but somehow she's not 10th percentile for weight. Go figure. I love her...

2) We have been in the house for a little over a year now and have had no issues so far. What a blessing, right? We have extended the patio out in the back yard and this past weekend put wood laminate in the eat-in kitchen. Next year will involve painting of some sort I'm sure and not sure from there.

3) I'M PREGNANT!!! I've been DYING to get on here and type those words. I'm 24 weeks today and feel so blessed to be healthy and carrying a healthy baby BOY. Ella is SO excited about being a big sister and teaching her brother all sorts of things. Due date is March 16th. We have two names picked out, Jonah Alan or Nolan Scott, but just can't decide right now. Ella likes Jonah the best (and so does Jason) so I'm outnumbered.

I have lots more to talk about, but I'll stop there for now. I have a nephew to post updates about and lots of recipes I've discovered that I need to post here.

Yay for remembering login info!

Update and On the Menu: Parmesan Crusted Tilapia

Happy Summer everyone! It's been too long since I've posted and the weather has quickly turned to hot and sticky....summer is here to stay. Not too much is going on in the Kendrick househould lately. The biggest news is getting our patio extended today. I can't wait to get home and see the results. Otherwise, we are working, enjoying little weekend trips, planning a big family trip to the Gulf in August, loving our new small group family and plowing through life one day at a time.

Now, for the food. This one is quick and easy (thanks Racheal Ray) and I make it minimum once every 2 weeks. It's perfect with rice and steamed broccoli.

The Ingredients:
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more to taste)
1 tablespoon chopped flat-leaf parsley
4 tilapia fillets (about 1 pound total)

What to do:
Make sure if you're using frozen tilapia, to let it thaw in the fridge the night before. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. In a shallow dish, combine the cheese with the paprika, cayenne, and parsley and season with salt and pepper. Drizzle the fish with olive oil and dredge in the cheese mixture. Place on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake until the fish is opaque in the thickest part, 10 to 12 minutes. Can serve with lemon wedges.

I'll post before and after shots of the patio soon.

Five Things

I have lots to catch up on here.  Let's see....

1) We've been in the house for 2.5 months and we're still in love with it. All the boxes are unpacked and most of the windows have blinds. I have one set of curtains to hang and that'll be it. We also have absolutely ZIP on the walls, so that's next on my list.'

2) Ella turned FOUR on New Year's Eve. It's amazing how quickly your child grows up and how much it catches you by surprise every year...even though you know it's coming. She is hilarious at this age and very entertaining. We're hoping to start spring AYSO soccer in a few months (if that lady would ever call back!).

3) Jason moved at work. He's doing the exact same thing, just supporting a different group of people, so he's in a different office. No more driving to work together! :-(

4) Samantha and Spud are due March 16th. We cannot wait to meet baby Judah Rowan! I also can't wait to see how my Mom will handle the flight to Denver. LOL

5) Paige Gentle (http://www.thegentletouchphotography.blogspot.com/) took Ella's 4 year pics back in November and I'll post those. She did a fantastic job. She really captured my Ella very well and I think got a lot of her personality in the pics.

Until my house looks a little less boring and beige-y, you won't see any pics from me. Let's hope spring arrives early....I'm SO over winter.

31 Days and Counting

We finally (waited for 30 days!) closed on our house 28 October. Everything went smoothly and we moved in that weekend. We have been there about a month and could not be happier. We feel overwhelmingly blessed with what God has given us. 98% of the boxes are unpacked, but some linger here and there. We have nothing hanging on the beige walls just yet and we still have to unpack our storage unit, which is almost a big of an event as moving was.

I hope to have some pictures on here soon, as well as some of Christmas decorations. Ella is SO excited about Christmas this year and begged for the tree, so it was put up the day after Thanksgiving. Now it's time to finish shopping and plan her birthday party for Dec 31st. Whew!

On the Menu: Italian Baked Chicken

It's been awhile since I posted a recipe and this one is a definite keeper! Try not to make this weekly....it's so moist. Best paired with a salad or steamed broccoli. Yum!

The Ingredients:
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

How to Make it:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

  1. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. Place bread crumbs in a separate bowl. Dip chicken into the mayonnaise mixture, then into the bread crumbs to coat. Arrange coated chicken on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until chicken juices run clear and coating is golden brown.

30 Days Out

As of today, we are 30 days out until closing. Can this really be true? I can't believe it has happened so fast and without any major hiccups. Adams, our builder, has been great to work with and they have done a fabulous job. We don't have any complaints!

What has happened since the last update (not in any certain order):
All exterior surfaces, brick and vinyl, are complete
Driveway and porches have been poured.
Walls have one coat of paint
Doors have been painted
Flooring is complete in the bathrooms
Mantle was built and painted

What still needs to happen:
Second coat of paint
Trim around all windows
Toilets to be installed
Cabinets and countertops to be installed
The rest of the flooring to be installed
Appliances to be installed
Landscaping (sod in the front yard and plants)

I'll post some pictures soon. I can't wait to move in!
